A burst of colour and energy swept across the Outdoor Theatre at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) as “Dancing Lights”, a four-member LED dance troupe, delivered a high-tempo performance that had children and parents cheering from the first beat.
Dressed in neon-lit costumes glowing in shades of blue, green, red, pink and yellow, the dancers moved in crisp synchronicity to a medley of Hollywood hits. From the pulsing rhythm of Michael Jackson’s Dangerous to the upbeat lift of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling and the unmistakable drive of the Black Eyed Peas’ Pump It, the show blended futuristic visuals with music in a way that captivated the entire audience.
The choreography was sharp, circular, and dynamic, with each dancer taking turns to showcase their individual flair while staying perfectly coordinated as a group. As the LED-powered troupe performed, the stage transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour.
Children in the audience danced along and cheered when their favourite songs played, clapping happily after each set. Among them were Mariam and her friend, who shared: “The dance performance was excellent and we enjoyed dancing to the songs. Pump It Up is my favourite song.”
The troupe’s glowing props added to the spectacle, creating an electric atmosphere. Towards the finale, the performers descended from the stage, engaging directly with the young audience and encouraging everyone to wave along. It was a fantastic way to kick off the morning and get the little ones ready for a day packed with exploring new books and participating in fun workshops.
SIBF 2025 is the event’s biggest edition yet. This year’s fair brings together 2,350 publishers and exhibitors from 118 countries, hosting over 1,200 activities and events, and welcoming more than 250 guests from 66 nations.
